Tours can be held in administrative centers as well as in some of the district’s villages. The cities of Udmurtia – Izhevsk, Sarapul, Votkinsk, and Glazov – are the first places to welcome tourists. Udmurtia has recently seen fast development of rural tourism. Tourists are offered to stay at guest homes, such as “Zhivitsa” in the village of Kez. You can learn about the ethnic culture, traditions and practices, and the main agricultural processes through direct participation in the daily life of the hospitable hosts (making meals, including making food products, looking after domestic animals, agricultural work, picking mushrooms and berries, fishing, going to banya, and so on). They are usually found in the most forested part of the region – from Yak-Bodya District to the north borders of Udmurtia. Duck and goose hunting is popular, especially in spring and autumn when the birds migrate. These seasons are high for hunting swimming birds in the basins of the Kama and Cheptsa rivers, as well as in other water basins of Udmurtia. Pheasant hunting can be considered a special offer in Udmurtia. Pheasants do not usually live in our climate. However, in our republic they are artificially bred for hunting, since it is popular. Udmurtia has the only in Russia kennel for West Siberian laikas. It is situated in the Selty District. If requested, hunters can purchase purebred and trained dogs as well as watch them hunt wild boars and bears. Such a magnificent and diverse wildlife and enough hunting and fishing facilities make hunting in our republic an attractive activity not only for the locals but for our guests as well.
